1,1,2,2-Tetrafluoroethyl-2,2,3,3-Tetrafluoropropyl Ether (CAS: 16627-68-2)
TTE (1,1,2,2-tetrafluoroethyl 2,2,3,3-tetrafluoropropyl ether) is a fluorinated ether solvent widely used in advanced lithium battery electrolytes, particularly in localized high-concentration electrolyte (LHCE) systems. TTE is primarily used as a non-solvating or weakly solvating diluent where it improves electrolyte stability at both the anode and cathode interfaces while reducing flammability and volatility of the electrolyte system.
The fluorinated structure promotes the formation of LiF-rich solid electrolyte interphase (SEI), enhancing interphase mechanical strength and suppressing dendrite growth. On high-voltage cathodes, TTE-derived decomposition products help form a more stable cathode electrolyte interphase (CEI), mitigating transition metal dissolution and oxidative electrolyte breakdown.
Battery-grade TTE enables advanced electrolyte designs, particularly for lithium metal batteries, high-voltage cathode systems, and fast-charging applications with high Coulombic efficiency, extended cycle life and improved electrochemical stability.
